ABOUT US

OUR HISTORY

A Community of love reaching out to its neighbor and to God through positive faith.
Glad Tidings started with four believers meeting in the small office of Rev. Howard Osgood, the first Principal of Bible Institute of Malaya. The initial years of 1960-1962 were marked with adverse and trying circumstances But under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and with hard labor of tracting, visitation and Sunday school story hours the Church was born. Thus, Glad Tidings was officially formed in 1963 in the chapel of the Bible school with Rev. Osgood as the founding pastor. It became the third Assembly of God Church in Malaysia. Rev. Dr. Vincent Leoh came to Glad Tidings in 1992 as the 9th pastor; and the church has grown from about 500 believers to over 3,300 today ? a contemporary church with multi-faceted ministries.

THE HOUSE OF GOD

In 1963 the Church met in the chapel of the national Bible School. In 1984 a new church sanctuary was built on the land of the Bible College of Malaysia; the building was subsequently given to the College in 2010. In 2002 the Church purchased its own property, a prime 4.3 acre piece of land in the heart of Petaling Jaya. Renovation was done in the first phase, and the Church held its first service in August 2003. Vision Centre (Phase 2) was built and completed in March 2013 at a cost of about US$10 million, financed entirely by the faith giving of the members, without any fund raising events, and without any borrowing from the bank. Now, the Church is poised to build the 3rd phase, Vision Convention Centre.

THE VISION OF THE CHURCH

Glad Tidings has a God-given OUR HISTORY VISION ? to Love God and Touch Lives. Our four-fold MISSION is to Win Souls, Build People, Impact Community, and Reach Nations.

Glad Tidings is a CELL CHURCH. We are big enough to impact nations, and small enough to connect with every person through a caring cell network. Through the Cell pastoral care is extended, caring relationships are built, oikos are reached, spiritual growth is prioritized, and leadership is developed.

Glad Tidings is a MISSIONAL CHURCH.
We have produced over 65 pastors and ministers of the Gospel, started 16 local churches and over 300 overseas churches in 12 nations in the Asia Pacific regions, especially Indonesia, India and the Philippines. Glad Tidings disburses over US$ 700,000 annually from the Missions budget. A separate Kingdom Fund is set up to help needy individuals, smaller churches and organizations.

Glad Tidings is a COMMUNITY CHURCH.
Glad Tidings have started and operate 10 different homes and centres including orphanages, senior adults homes, drug rehabilitation centre, childcare centre, kindergarten, etc. A special Horeb Fund is set up to give financial help to the hard core poor in the community while the Daily Bread Food Bank distributes food to the needy.
