Kong Hee received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord in 1975. After his conversion, Kong attended a neighborhood Anglican church for the next 13 years. Upon graduation with a computer science degree from the National University of Singapore, and after a short stint working at an Anglican parish, Kong planned to be a lifelong missionary in the Philippines. He then received the call of God to start a church in downtown Singapore. On May 7, 1989, City Harvest Church was founded with a handful of 20 youth. As of June 2012, CHC has a congregation size of 21,084.

Since 1992, Kong has been married to singer Sun Ho, and they have an eight-year-old son Dayan. He has been a board member of Church Growth International since 2005, and both he and Sun submit to Dr. Yonggi Cho as their pastor and spiritual oversight. In 2008, Kong was given an honorary doctorate degree from Hansei University in Seoul, South Korea.

01 CHC has 49 branch/aliated churches with a combined membership of more than 48,757 attendees.

02Its titanium-clad campus at Jurong West was fully paid for, and is one of the largest column-free underground sanctuaries in the world. In 2010, CHC became the co-owner of Suntec Convention Center, a premier public arena in Asia, where CHC holds its multiple weekend services.

03 CHC firmly believes in the Great Commandment of loving God wholeheartedly and loving people fervently. City Harvest Community Services touches 15,000 less fortunate lives in Singapore annually. Globally, it has more than 96 humanitarian projects, and the love of Christ is practically demonstrated through disaster relief work, and the building of schools, orphanages, medical and rehabilitation centers, women¡¯s shelters, etc.

04 To fulfill the Great Commission, CHC has a heart for world missions. In 2009, CHC sent out workers overseas at a rate of one team a day. Its School of Theology, a full-time short-term Bible school, has graduated 5,937 students. With 6 other branch schools in the Far East, hundreds of church workers are raised up each year for the harvest fields of Asia.

05 CHC¡¯s biennial Asia Conference has been attracting thousands of delegates from more than 70 nations in the region and beyond, for mutual edification and empowerment.

06 Apart from the Great Commandment and Great Commission, CHC champions the Cultural Mandate, seeking to engage contemporary culture with relevance, creativity and authenticity for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. As such, there is an emphasis for its members to excel and serve as salt and light in the marketplace of society.
